The People Behind the Craft.

Some homes are built for today. Others are built for generations. We only know how to build the second kind.

Traditional Log Homes works out of Rebersburg, in the middle of Pennsylvania's ridges and hardwood valleys. It's a small operation on purpose. We take on the number of projects we can actually stand on.

We got into this work the way most log builders do — by helping on a wall, and then not being able to stop thinking about it. A scribed log either fits or it doesn't. There's no trim to hide behind, no drywall to bury a mistake in. That honesty is the whole appeal.

What separates a properly built log home from an average one usually isn't visible in photographs. It's the consistency of the fits, the treatment done before the log ever goes up, the overhangs that keep water off the walls, and the detailing that lets a house settle without fighting itself. Those decisions determine whether a home looks like this in forty years.

Our logs come through our long relationship with Rustic Ozark Log Cabins, which gives us consistent native Missouri Yellow Pine — the material that makes tight full-scribe work possible.

As for how we work with people: we answer our own phone, we say when something is a bad idea, and we write down who is responsible for what before anyone spends money. Most of our clients have been thinking about this house for years. That deserves to be treated carefully.

A log home should belong to its surroundings — and to the people who live there.
